DIY Felt Nativity

We’d been tasked to create a nativity scene out of ‘fuzzy felt’ for the toddler group to use during the lead up to Christmas.
Although it was hard work, especially as they are all hand-stitched, it has been a joy to see the children play with them, and be able to experience and learn about the Nativity story in a different way.

What if we removed Materialism?

We cannot deny that we live in a material-driven culture. I would probably go as far to say that many are material-obsessed. It’s all about the ‘latest’, whether in technology, fashion, beauty or anything else that streaks across the commercial world. We can’t escape the latest fad, and the advertising world comes into full force in the run up to Christmas (which is apparently as early as September).

But, let’s imagine we could. Just take a step outside the world of adverts, and think about Christmas without gifts.

Introducing: Christmas with a Difference

Christmas comes around every year, and I often think it comes around before we know it each and every year. As if every year that I get older, a year seems to become shorter? Weird, I know, but still a very real feeling! Either way, as we approach what can be one of the busiest seasons of all, I’ve decided to create a space to allow me to explore some of the less thought of aspects of Christmas.

Dear Uni Friends…

Dear Friends at University,

You may be coming home from uni, and your excitement is completely understandable, but…

Teetotal Teen

How often does the question ‘Do you want to go for drinks?’ come up in everyday conversation, especially when trying to make plans. It’s almost become the norm that since turning 18, all of us HAVE to go somewhere that provides alcohol: as if you can’t have fun without it.

‘Stained Glass Masquerade’

Have you ever felt like you’re living behind masks? Like the person people see isn’t really you? Have we got to the point where we build up barriers: thinking we’re protecting ourselves, but in reality, we’re distorting the truth?
