A Year in the Life of a Cockapoo

If you follow me on any form of social media, you’re probably aware that we have a lovely cockapoo, called Bonnie. As someone who was 100% not a dog person, Bonnie has well and truly won my heart! I may not like other dogs, but I love Bonnie.

Come September, I will be moving to university. I’ll hopefully be sharing more about this in the not too distant future, but for now, that means I’ll be away from home for months at a time – and I’m definitely going to be missing Bon.

Behind the scenes at Hogwarts! (DIY)

Welcome to the next instalment in the Potter blogs! You may have seen that about a month ago, I threw a Potter Party for my sister, with a lot of help from the family. You may also know, from this blog, that I’m a big Potter fan!

Anyway, in my research to put together this bash, I spent a lot of time on Pinterest. As a result, I’ve been inspired to but together a ‘behind-the-scenes’ type post of some of the process.

Honest Reflections | Learning from Children

I haven’t really spoken much about what I’ve been doing this year, in terms of my internship. I mentioned it – only to explain how my plans had changed, but other than that, I’ve kept pretty quiet.

I’d like to change that though, as I’ve been learning an awful lot this year, and I think it’d be good for me to document this, as well as share it.

So… what have I learnt?

Throwing a Potter Party!

Welcome all witches, wizards, muggles and elves – you’re all welcome here! I’m fully embracing my love of Harry Potter in this post, and if you’ve been following me on social media, you may be aware that I recently put together a Harry Potter Party. And let’s put this disclaimer out there now: we went to town. (Some may say OTT. I would say giving HP the justice it deserves.)

Finding Silence

I was driving home from dropping my sister off at school the other day, and unexpectedly, my music cut off. I was suddenly in silence, and this got me thinking.

And while I was driving, listening steadily to the thrum of the engine, the occasional rev, and the cars driving past, I had to stop and think.

When was the last time I found silence?

Honest Reflections | Looking Forward

Somehow or other, we’ve reached the end of February. (At least, when I started this post, it was still February. Hello March!) That’s just crazy! I’m not sure I’ll ever understand time properly. For all I know, when I think I’ve got it, life suddenly speeds up again!

My gap year is pretty much half way through, and in a way, that’s terrifying. Where that time has gone, I have no clue. I guess, thinking back, I’ve managed to fill those 6 months with a fair amount, but it also seems to have gone by in a blink of an eye. And so, it’s not without much doubt, that I feel like I’ll be sitting here in 6 months’ time, trying to figure out where the past 6 months have gone. And that time, I’ll be in the midst of packing to go to university.

Learning How to Say ‘Goodbye’

I don’t like goodbyes. I also don’t think I’m alone in disliking them.

As someone who isn’t the biggest fan of change, goodbyes often send a jolt of fear through me. It’s a way of acknowledging that something is changing, and that in some area, life won’t look the same anymore.

Of course, not all goodbyes are big ones. Everyday “See you Laters” and “Byes” don’t have the same effect. But having gone through a large number of changes over the past few months, the “goodbyes” have also increased in number.
